Why Yoga and Mindfulness for Children?
Yoga allows children the opportunity to move their bodies in safe and fun ways that promote strength, balance and motor development. They also learn how to link their breath with their movements, helping them to stay more focused in the present moment. During this time they learn to notice sensations they are feeling, while experiencing different emotions. This can help them respond to situations from a place of understanding, rather than react from an emotional state. Children also learn breathing techniques to aid in activating their parasympathetic nervous system, allowing their bodies to come into a state of rest and relaxation.
By having yoga and mindfulness as part of our children’s lives they will be able to grow up understanding and using the tools needed to help them enjoy life’s journey, wherever and however it may lead them.
